Wildlife Photographer of the Year
The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) presents the Canadian debut of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year (WPY) exhibition, which, in the United Kingdom, is one of the Natural History Museum’s (NHM) most successful and longest-running exhibitions. Based on a photography competition originating 49 years ago, the exhibition is displayed in the ROM’s Level 3, Centre Block, from November 23, 2013 to March 23, 2014. BBC Worldwide and the NHM have partnered to create this internationally recognized competition, celebrating nature and wildlife through the most prestigious and surprising photography of its kind.
ROM InstallationOpen to professional and amateur photographers including youth, the exhibition showcases work by international competitors from over 90 countries. At the ROM, similar to the other WPY international venues, the exhibition features over 100 images, from a pool of over 43,000 international entries in 2012. Depicting landscapes, wildlife, and marine life, the ROM display, consisting of custom made LED light boxes, is divided into multiple sections covering 11 adult categories, four special award categories, and three children’s categories.

The Civic Museum is located beside the Church of Our Lady in Guelph. The entrance to the Museum is on Cork Street.

Sleemans Brewery Tour
For our November outing, we will be doing a photographic tour of Sleeman's Brewery.
Date and time for the tour is Saturday, November 23rd at 10 a.m.
There will be a $10 per person fee for the tour, which is not covered by the Guild. Please note that 100% of this fee is going to Sleeman's United Way fund drive.
We are very fortunate that we are being allowed to photograph in the brew house as well as other locations throughout the tour.
They also have a large number of brewery antiques and artifacts that they are making available for us to photograph.
As we will be going through working areas of he brewery, there are a few regulations we need to be aware of:
No jewelry is allowed, including rings and earrings.
We will need to wear safety footwear, Sleeman's has toe covers, but they have asked that if you have steel-toed shoes, please bring them.
We will need to wear safety glasses and vests, which Sleeman's will provide.
For those driving directly to Sleeman's, we will be meeting at their retail store, on site at the Brewery.
I will provide meet-up information for those needing a ride as well as location information closer to the date .
I need to provide Sleeman's the number of Guild members who will be attending so they know how many support staff they need to provide for the tour.
Please reply to the email I sent out (do not "Reply to All") or add your comment to this Flickr post if you are attending .
Thank you!

Guild Meeting For November
On Site Visit to Henry's in Cambridge
For our November meeting, we will be going on site to Henry’s Camera in Cambridge for a demonstration of photographic equipment and accessories, as well as an overview of some of Henry's offerings.
As space is limited in the Henry’s classroom, there are two dates which we have reserved that you can select from to attend: Friday, Nov 22nd or Thursday, Nov 28th, both at 7 p.m.
We need to provide Henry’s with the number of members attending each of the two nights. Please reply to this post if you will be attending and which one of the two nights you prefer.
Also, Henry’s would like to know what we would be interested in seeing, so please post your suggestions.
I will be posting further information closer to the date regarding the meeting location in Guelph for those who will need a ride.
